Who is the VSA?
The Vibrational Sound® Association (VSA), founded in 2014 by singing bowl and sound therapy expert Jeff Howard, is a leader in professional education and certification for Vibrational Sound® Therapy (VST). With over two decades of experience across Nepal, China, Tibet, India, Thailand, and the U.S., Howard established the VSA to share sound therapy’s profound benefits through rigorous, research-based training. Howard is one of the few experts in the field deeply involved in the manufacturing, distribution, and education of singing bowls and sound therapy.
The VSA offers comprehensive courses across the U.S., blending classroom instruction with hands-on experience to fully equip sound therapy practitioners. Each VSA program provides step-by-step guidance on using therapeutic sound tools, teaching the science behind stress reduction, the practical use of various types of singing bowls, effective client interaction, and key business skills for building a successful practice.
VSA’s curriculum is secular, relying on evidence-based methods to harness sound and vibration for deep relaxation. Students are trained in all aspects of client sessions, from the initial consultation to the therapy itself and aftercare, enabling them to provide a structured, modern approach to sound therapy while honoring ancient practices.
Beyond education, the VSA serves as an advocate and resource for VST practitioners worldwide, fostering peer support, providing industry updates, and organizing ongoing learning through retreats and continuing education courses. The VSA also promotes practitioners’ businesses, helping members reach broader audiences through professional marketing channels.
As sound therapy becomes more mainstream, the VSA continues to adapt, evolving its educational materials and expanding its support to meet the needs of a growing industry. Through these efforts, the VSA remains a trusted guide, ensuring that practitioners are well-equipped to deliver effective, professional sound therapy in today’s world.
